It all starts today. After spending the last year or so saving every penny we could and planning our escape from the viciousness of renting, we’re about to start looking at houses again. It’s not going to be an easy task because the city we live in is very expensive, and our maximum budget will be lucky to get us a livable home somewhere within 30 minutes of here. We can’t go too far outside the city either, because my husband (understandably) doesn’t want to commute 45+ minutes every day for work). I’m fortunate enough to be self-employed and work mostly from home, so I can work anywhere as long as there’s internet.
Over the weekend, a couple houses popped up that are in our price range and only about 25 minutes from where we live now, so we’re going to check one of them out today. It looks like it has everything we’re looking for: 2 bathrooms, fenced yard for the fur kids, big kitchen for ME! I’m pretty excited to see it in person. I’m also worried that if we end up really liking it and wanting to go under contract for it, the sellers will have lots of other offers and other people will have more money to offer than us. Maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll be super nice sellers who would rather help a nice young couple get their first home and a couple adorable pups get their first yard.
I guess we’ll see how this goes, from today through the next couple months. Uncertainty is something I really dislike, especially when it’s regarding where I’ll be living. That’s probably why I haven’t been sleeping well lately.
Until next time, this has been House Hunters NC: The Super Low Budget Version.
